Its nearly august…
… and for those who love the ambient chill out scene (or just really cool festivals)… it means one thing.
The big chill is a lot of things to me…
Cat ladies waving a giant inflatable banana on a stick, perverse universe, the art trail, the media mix tent, random new friends, ‘tiger tiger burning bright - burning kites right through the night’, amazing fancy dress costumes, sushi tents, Brothers’ pear cider, Camel cigarettes, wellies, talking to santa for about half an hour, sunshine, smoothies, corn on the cob, vegetarian curry, cool eccentric shops, fairies, elf and safety, poiing, reggae, drum ‘n’ bass, the massive bonfire, grass art, giant carts to move your belongings from A to B, mojitos in the sun, So-Co summer cup’s, giant letters, glow in the dark stick men wandering around… random hats, giant wicker women, random pianos in fields, just a few highlights of the Big chill.
Nevermind the dancing zebras who were wandering through crowds, coaxing us to follow them to their show… trying sushi for the first time, or the guy who attached a fan to a rocking chair, then proceeded to float around a field with an array of amazed/confused spectators watching in wonder.
As amazing as all these things are and are a big part of the festival, the best thing is…
The music!
Nowhere will you find the delights of Mr Scruff, Explosions In The Sky, Bonobo, Caribou, MIA, Massive attack, Thom Yorke, Netsky, Little Dragon, High Contrast, Easy Star All Stars, just to name a few… all in one place!
Some of my fave ambient and D’n'B artists all at one festival!
Throw in the lovely days time ambience and amazing night time festivities… this is definately a festival not to be missed for those chill out enthusiasts.

Can you play piano? Show off your skills with random pianos placed around the festival!!

Inflatable banana crew!

Sunsetting over another day at the big chill.

Dancing behind pixelated cubes…

Giant bonfire to end the amazing weekend…

Friends made on the way…

We at crispybeats.com hope to see you there

Where is the festival held?
Yeah, I couldn’t quite get that either. Where is the festival held? Love the banana though. Great pics.
Looks like you had a great time at the festival. The last picture was a perfect shot. I’m also wondering where the festival was held…
thats a real cool image of the guy playing piano outside
Do you see the size of that bonfire. I guess that nobody roasted any marsh mellows there.
Wow amazing celebration. You’ve lot of beautiful photos here, Really like the background. Nice post.
I LOVE big outdoor festivals, but sadly it seems I’m always missing them
… I have to agree with the others that the pics turned out good & it looks like it would have been a Blast to attend. I seemed to have missed the location of the festival as well, could you share it with us & is it in the same place every year so that I might be able to attend next year?
Beautiful photos, I like outdoor festival.
Great photos. First and second photos are superb.
I couldn’t able to see all pics at one instance. Outdoors pictures are fantastic.
